The Barton Reading and Spelling System was developed by Susan Barton. It’s a program that helps children, teenagers, and adults, who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing due to a learning disability or more specifically known as, dyslexia.
The Barton System was designed as an intense intervention program for students who struggle to easily and accurately decode words when reading, who by second grade are slow and inaccurate readers, and who have always struggled with spelling.
The program is Orton-Gillingham influenced that provides a multi sensory, direct, explicit, structured, approach to teaching people of all ages to learn to read and write. Its effectiveness has been proven through research and evidence studies and is approved by the California, Colorado, and Arkansas Boards of Education.
