Coach Ken, Dyslexia Reading and Spelling Tutor

Coach Ken is a Certified tutor in the Barton Reading and Spelling program and has been tutoring dyslexic students since 2018. He has been involved in education for over 25 years and has taught kids from elementary school through high school both privately and in classroom settings. He also has been very active in his community, coaching kids in youth sports for over 8 years.

Coach Ken became aware of dyslexia when his younger son was diagnosed with the disorder early in elementary school. He has first hand knowledge of the struggles a family and son endures when facing the challenges dyslexia brings. He became a very proactive advocate for his son’s education when his school district failed to address his son’s learning disability and failed to give him the appropriate skills and accommodations needed to learn to read and spell.

Since finding the appropriate instruction and immersion into the Barton Reading and Spelling System, his son’s improvement has been nothing short of remarkable. He completed all 10 levels of the Barton program, graduated High School with a cumulative GPA of 3.5, received a 4.0 GPA his senior year, and is currently attending a local trade school to study Machine Tool Technology. His story was recently featured in Susan Barton’s 2023 October newsletter.
